MJ Capitol Consulting’s Successes
MJ Capitol Consulting’s principle Mary Jo Kripowicz has enjoyed significant successes for her clients during her more than two decades as a federal lobbyist, including:
∙ Protecting utilities’ radio spectrum allocations preserving a $90 million company investment in automatic meter reading technology.
∙ Restoring $1.4 billion in annual appropriations (which had been eliminated) for LIHEAP, the federal block grant program which provides funds for state run energy assistance programs.
∙ Passing an amendment into law incenting utilities to sell their electric transmission systems by lengthening the depreciation period for the capitol gains derived from the sale of these assets.
∙ Securing a one-year delay in the implementation of a Department of Homeland Security regulation requiring new Visa certifications of Canadian nurses traveling to the United States to work in area hospitals, allowing the nurses to continue providing critically needed staffing at Detroit-area hospitals while the agency managed backlogs in the certification process.
∙ Securing $1.6 million in funding for Lawrence Technological University for developing vehicle armor for our troops.
∙ Preserving $37 million for Southeast Michigan hospitals by securing an amendment to extend Medicare wage-index reclassification reimbursements which had expired.
∙ Positioning the Oakwood affiliated Western Wayne Family Health Center (a Federally Qualified Health Center) to receive $1.3 million in ARRA funding to establish a satellite location for the Health Center.
